Last December, the Stella Maris College Scout Group baked and sold thousands of cookies in aid of charity. This initiative was led by the Rover Crew, and was supported by members and leaders from other sections. All proceeds from this event, amounting to €3,100 were this week presented to the respective charities. €1,500 was donated to the Association for Abandoned Animals (AAA) and a further €1,600 was donated to Missio! Surplus ingredients were donated to Fondazzjoni Dar il-Hena who run a number of emergency and residential shelters. Well done to all those who were involved in one way or another to support these charities in the great work that they are doing, and for truly living up to the Scout Promise of helping others!

Today after a wait of 18 years our little hurricane lamp has once again received the Peace Light from Bethlehem.
Back in 2003 two scouts Sarah Ann Bartolo and Nigel Schembri accompanied by some group leaders travelled to Rome to bring this Light of Peace from other scouts at the Vatican.
This year thanks to the initiative of the Scouts of Ragusa 7 and the Qawra Scout Group the Peace light is back in Malta.
Yesterday night the Ragusa scouts received it at the train station in Lentini and today travelled to Malta.
The Peace light was then taken to the Carmelite church in Mdina where it was distributed to those present after a small ceremony. Tomorrow it will be taken to Ta Pinu sanctuary in Gozo.
The light is lit from the eternal flame that is in the Nativity grotto in Bethlehem taken from Tel Aviv Airport to Salzburg in Austria and from there distributed to the whole world.

The Stella Maris College Scout Group has been upgrading and refurbishing its headquarters, undertaking various projects over the past years. These include a complete electrical overhaul of all rooms, stainless steel surfaces and appliances in the kitchen, and new storage in the Troop room, to mention some examples. Over the coming year, the Scout Group will be benefiting once more from Aġenzija Żgħażagħs A4U scheme, as it will embark on Operation Chuckbox - a project that will see the replacement of some outdated kitchen appliances and cookware, used both within the headquarters itself and also whilst at camp. Through projects such as these, the Scout Group aims to provide a functional and safe space that all its members can benefit from.

With Christmas just round the corner, the Scout Group will be organising a Christmas Bake Sale to help two charities. The adult leaders that form part of the Group’s Rover Crew will be baking and selling Nutella Stuffed Cookies, Stained Glass Cookies and Chocolate Brownies, with all proceeds going towards either Missio and/or the Association for Abandoned Animals (as the buyer's choice). Each pack costs €6, and there is also a special offer of €15 if taking one packet of each! Contact one of the Group's members to place your orders by Saturday 4th December, and be part of this charitable initiative. Spread the word around with your family, friends and workmates, collect their orders and include them with your own booking. We look forward to receiving your orders, and to help spread some positivity and kindness this Christmas! ...
